An important
part of the Boy Scout program is advancement. You have the
opportunity by working hard and using the program developed by
your patrol leaders and your senior patrol leader, to advance up
the ladder toward Eagle rank.
As you
probably know by now the ranks available are Tenderfoot, Second
Class, First Class, Star Scout, Life Scout and Eagle Scout.
Each of these
ranks has a requirement that you “Demonstrate scout spirit by
living the Scout Oath (Promise) and Scout Law in your everyday
life.”
The Scoutmaster is the only one
who can sign off on this requirement.
There are two parts of this
requirement.
The first is that you have to
demonstrate to the Scoutmaster that you follow the Scout Oath
and law by having good character , conduct and behavior.
The second is that you must
demonstrate a commitment to the Troop by being active in Troop
activities. As a guideline you should participate in 70% of
all Troop activities, which means troop meetings, camping trips
and troop service projects. This is a guideline that the
Scoutmaster can change or waive for good cause depending on a
boy’s situation.
This
requirement applies to all ranks.
Sincerely,
Peter S. Vannucci
Troop Committee Chairman
