Safe Scouting
Troop 42 strictly adheres to all BSA Safe Scouting policies, e.g., two-deep leadership.

Merit Badge Counseling
Information on merit badge counseling is available from the Council.  The full list of merit badges is available from the Advancement page.  In addition, a Merit Badge Counselor training guide is also available for self-study.

Advancement Videos
Videos describing Boy Scout Advancement, including History, System of Learning, Scoutmaster Conferences, Service Projects, Merit Badges, Boards of Review, and Court of Honor are available from National BSA.

Adult Leader Training
All troop leaders must meet BSA national training standards and Connecticut Yankee Council training standards.  Leader Training is tracked by our Committee Chairman.
Course programs are available through the Scatacook District, Connecticut Yankee Council, and the Westchester-Putnam Council, and many courses are available on-line through the Boy Scouts of America.

The Troop Meeting Planner helps the Senior Patrol Leader plan weekly meetings.
